To progress to Sho-Dan – (1st Dan) – the student must meet the following requirements:
Have 100% attendance at Black Belt Seminar
Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency of all skills and Kata that have been taught. Students will be required to pass a pretest before being eligible for Black Belt Seminar
Volunteer at locally sponsored tournaments
Hold the rank of Sho-Dan Ho for a period of no less than 1 year
Teach (or Assist Teaching) a minimum of 6 hours per month for at least 12 months.
Provide service to the Dojo as outlined by Sensei
Return promotion fees and forms prior to deadline. See Sensei for appropriate fees
A student that has met these requirements and has passed their formal test, will be promoted to the rank of Sho Dan. The rank is denoted by a black belt with the school name and the candidates name on the belt.
